Active Transportation Skill Building Workshops

The goal of the Active and Safe Routes to School Skill Building Workshops is to increase the capacity of elementary schools in the Region of Waterloo to create more walking activities and promote walking to school. Over the past 30 years there has been a dramatic decrease in the number of children using active transportation to get to school. Many children who are deemed "walkers" are actually driven to school. This has resulted in increased traffic congestion at school sites, traffic safety concerns and poor air quality from car emissions.

Walking is:

  • Healthy
  • Clean
  • Safe
  • Fun
  • Educational

The next Active and Safe Roues to School Skill Building workshop will be held October 27th, 2009. For more information contact Marion Kelterborn, Public Health Nurse at 519-883-2003 Ext:5338 or kmarion@region.waterloo.on.ca
